Microsoft Word For Mac 2008 Version 12

Hi, I have a Macbook 2.4 GHZ running OS X 10.5.2. I have had Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac for about 4 months and it now refuses to launch and I am requested to relaunch and of course when I do it fails and I get the report below. I did notice that I could not find the Word application in the application folder. I don't think I have done anything differently except that I often have to stop my computer from automatically searching and downloading the latest and very large update files. If anyone knows how I can get Word back and running, I would most grateful.
With the release of Word 6.0 in 1993, Microsoft again attempted to synchronize the version numbers and coordinate product naming across platforms, this time across DOS, Mac OS, and Windows (this was the last version of Word for DOS). I have Microsoft Word 2008 fopr Mac, Version 12.3.6 (130206). Calendar combined may and june 2017. I'm having a problem with file organization. When I click on All My Files, I don't see any file folders. Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 may be the best pick for business users, with major updates to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage. After a series of delays, Microsoft plans to release Office. If user is having problem with font then delete 'Office Font Cache (12)', located in the same folder as Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist. Office is now successfully reset. If all is well, trash the old file otherwise, quit all Office apps again, trash the new files and drag the original files back to where they belong. Surprisingly, Word gets several major enhancements in Office 2008, the first version of Microsoft’s productivity suite to run natively on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs.
All the applications in Office seem to work. All the applications in > Office seem to work. Unreal tournamnt for mac 2017. Do other Office apps open?

If so, try this: 1) Quit all Microsoft applications. 2) Track down all instances of pre-2008 Normal template on your computer, and drag them to your desktop. The file is called simply 'Normal' and has no extension. 3) Find and drag the file Normal.dotm to your desktop. Unless you have moved it, it should be in /Users/ ~ /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/My Templates/ 4) If the following files exist, Remove or rename them: ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (10) ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (11) User/Library/Preferences/com.Microsoft.Word.plist User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008 (the whole folder!) 5) Now re-start Word 2008 and it should be OK.

Be thorough with this, if you leave any of these files behind Word 2008 will find them and won't replace them. Do it right and Word will construct a new, clean, set of preferences and everything should now work.

If so now is a good time to restore Office to its former self before proceeding. If not we'll try for the brass ring. Keep your fingers crossed:-) Not chastising - Just informing: The most likely cause of the problem is: 'I often have to stop my computer from automatically searching and downloading the latest and very large update files' In fact, I'm almost 100% certain that the reason the crash report shows the Version as???(???) is the direct result of stopping one of the Office updates while it was in progress. If you don't want to receive the updates immediately that's OK, but both the OS X Software Update & the Office AutoUpdate programs can be set to be run manually.
